Kernvile and the surrounding areas are a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Within a few minutes you can be whitewater rafting or kayaking on the renowned Kern River, fly-fishing for trout at Isabella Lake, or taking a challenging hike in Sequoia National Forest. Kern River is one of North America's steepest whitewater rivers, with a graidient of 30-ft/mile. Around Kernville, the river features Class II rapids. Kern river also provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy fly fishing for rainbow trout and wild trout.
The Sequoia National Forest is home to the Giant Sequoia National Monument, where you'll find some of the largest Giant Sequois and the world, including the Boole Tree. The Needles, a fantastic rock-climbing locations is also located in Sequoia National Forest.
Looking for a convenient place to enjoy boating, fishing, or a relaxing family picnic? Check out Lake Isabella, just a short from from our lodge. Lake Isabella is also one of southern California's premier locations for windsurfing and kite-boarding.
The Kern River Brewery (Kern River Brewing Company) is an employee-owned brewpub (Kernville's only brewpub.), where you can enjoy a variety of homemade beers and excellent meals in a distinctly "Kernville" environment.
Ewings on the Kern is a steakhouse with a unique atmosphere: It's is situated on cliffs overlooking the Kern River's whitewater rapids. Besides great steaks, you can also enjoy fish and chips, various sandwiches, cold draft beer, and live music.
The Cracked Egg Cafe a favorite of Kernville locals (incluing your hosts). They serve a variety of old-fashioned, home-cooked meals for breakfast and brunch. Make sure you try their traditional pancakes and eggs if you stop by for breakfast.
